The Honorable Shaukat Aziz
Prime Minister of Pakistan
Islamabad, Pakistan
Dear Prime Minister Aziz:
On behalf of the Sikh nation and about 15,000 Sikhs who attended the recent celebration of Guru Nanak’s birthday in Nankana Sahib, I would like to thank you for the excellent treatment that the Sikhs from around the world received and for meeting with us. Sikhs who were visiting from Punjab wondered why they were being treated soo much better in Pakistan than in their own country.
I would also like to thank you for offering to build a road from Kartarpur to the Indian border. This will allow Sikhs to come and visit Nankana Sahib to honor the first Sikh guru whenever they wish. This is essential for peace, prosperity, and harmony in the subcontinent.
Your move to build this road will be of great benefit to the Sikh Nation and to Pakistan, as well as the entire subcontinent. I cannot urge India strongly enough to reciprocate so that Sikhs who wish to honor the memory of Guru Nanak can do so easily and in peace.
I am also writing to the Chief Minister of Punjab to urge him to build their portion of the road and fix the bridge.
Thank you again for offering to build this road, for meeting with the Sikh delegation to discuss freedom for everyone in South Asia, and for the excellent treatment that Sikhs encountered on the visit to Nankana Sahib.
Sincerely,
Dr. Gurmit Singh Aulakh
President
Council of Khalistan
