OPEN LETTER TO THE SIKH NATION
Badal and His Clan Have Lost Spirit of Khalsa
Appointing His Son as Deputy Chief Minister
Is Insult to Democracy, Khalsa Panth
Dear Khalsa Panth:
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal appointed his son Sukhbir as Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab. There is no such title in the Punjab government; Badal made it up to place his son, who is not even an MLA, in line to continue the Badal family’s corrupt organization. This is an insult to democracy and the Khalsa Panth.
Badal and his clan have lost the spirit of the Khalsa. They are moving towards insanity with their obsession with enriching themselves and their clan financially. When they ran the government previously, they ran the most corrupt government in Punjab’s history – until this term. They came up with a new term for bribery – “fee for service.” If you didn’t pay the fee, you didn’t get any service. Mrs. Badal got so good at counting the money that she could tell how much money was in a bag simply by picking it up. This kind of corruption is contrary to the Sikh maryada and humanity.
During his election campaign, Badal went to see the fake Gurus Gurmit Ram Rahim and Ashutosh – as well as the Nirankaris – and bowed to them. Sikhs are only allowed to bow before the Guru Granth Sahib. This is a betrayal of the Sikh Nation. He did this only to seek votes for his election. Ironically, it didn’t work, as Gurmit Ram Rahim and Ashutosh endorsed the anti-Sikh Congress Party. But the fact that Badal would seek such support shows that he and his crowd have abandoned the spirit of Sikhism and the spirit of the Gursikhs. (The Nirankaris are a creation of the Indian government to divide and destroy the Sikh religion.)
Perhaps that has to do with Badal’s alliance with the militant Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the political arm of the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS). The RSS, which was founded in support of the Fascist movement, has promoted violence against minorities and published a book on how to implicate minorities in false criminal cases. The BJP’s platform is Hindutva – Hindu nationalism, dominance of the entire subcontinent by Hindus and Hinduism. A senior RSS leader was quoted as saying that everyone who lives in India must either be a Hindu or be subservient to Hindus. These are Mr. Badal’s political allies.
The SGPC, under the control of Badal and the Akali Dal, recently removed Akal Takht Jathedar Joginder Singh Vedanti for expressing the desire for a free Khalistan. They have forgotten the words of former Akal Takht Jathedar Professor Darshan Singh, who said “If a Sikh is not a Khalistani, he is not a Sikh.” Also remember “Khalsa Bagi Yan Badshah.”
The Indian regime has murdered over a quarter of a million Sikhs since its 1984 attack on the Golden Temple, and it doesn’t matter much which party is in power.
This alliance and other actions have damaged the Akali Dal as well as Sikh institutions such as the Akal Takht and the SGPC. How can Badal continue to call himself a Sikh? It is shameful how he is deceiving Sikhs and damaging the Sikh religion. No Sikh should associate with him.
Panth Da Sewadar,
Dr. Gurmit Singh Aulakh
